"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of others."

Today’s passage calls us to foster genuine relationships, marked by selflessness and mutual support within our spiritual and professional communities.

Bishop Houston’s Contemplation:
In the digital age, social media and other platforms offer unprecedented opportunities for sharing God's word and nurturing spiritual growth. It's common for clergy to seek support from peers in spreading their messages, such as through podcasts or other digital evangelism efforts. However, it is vital that this support is mutual.

Sometimes, we notice a lack of reciprocity among peers, which can lead to discouragement. This situation invites us to reflect on the nature of true Christian fellowship and our collective mission. Philippians 2:3-4 teaches us the importance of valuing others’ interests above our own, encouraging us to live out our faith in humility and unity.
Let us be mindful not to succumb to self-centered tendencies. Remembering that we are all parts of one body in Christ, as Paul states in Romans 12:5, should inspire us to support each other. When one member thrives, the whole-body benefits; when one struggles, we all feel the impact. Embracing this spirit of reciprocity can transform our communities and enhance our collective witness.

Gracious and loving Father, we thank You for the gift of fellowship and the opportunities You provide for us to share Your love with others. Help us to approach our relationships with humility, placing the needs of our fellow clergy above our own. Grant us the wisdom and discernment to recognize when we fall short and the courage to change our ways. May we work together in unity, uplifting one another in Christ's name and spreading Your message of hope and love to the world. To God Be the Glory! 🕊️
